Bipolar disorder is a type of mood disorder. Bipolar disorder causes episodes of mania (severely elevated mood) and episodes of depression.
Symptoms include:
- Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity
For example: thinking you are the greatest because of an inflated sense of worth, power, knowledge, importance, or identity; you can do anything without worrying about the consequences.
- Pressured speech
For example: speaking so quickly that another person can hardly get a word in edgewise.
- increase in goal-directed activity (either socially, at work or school).
- more talkative than usual or pressure to keep talking.
- attention is easily drawn to unimportant or irrelevant items.
- Reckless or Impulsive Behavior.
- elated (proud and joyful) Mood.
- Irritability or Hostility.
